As summer storms are interspersed with heat waves we are left with feelings of living on a roller coaster. But itís also a reminder that we also need to begin planning for the new school year. Religious education for our children is an important part of each school year and this year is no exception. Just as important is our own religious education, for we need to keep growing in our understanding of Godís vision for our lives.
The Session, the ruling board of the church, has been discussing various ways to integrate the needs for Christian education and worship with the frantic schedules that most of us live. But to be sure that the ideas and needs of everyone is being heard, a questionnaire has been developed. Obviously the more input we have the better the data will be to made some basic decisions, i.e. what time should our Sunday Worship Service begin? Because of strong feelings expressed by some members, the board has already decided not to change the 9 a.m. Traditional Service time. However, there are a number of options for the Sunday School and the Family Worship Service. Please take the time to fill out the attached questionnaire. We need everyone to complete the questionnaire. You can add more if you want, but the basic questionnaire shouldnít take more than 10 minutes to fill out.
Please return the completed questionnaire by August 15th so that we can announce before Labor Day the times of Sunday worship. As we complete our summer service schedule on Labor Day week-end we will move the following Sunday into our fall schedule.
Also enclosed are some reminders on church and community activities. Itís been a busy summer at church and we look forward to an even more ambitious schedule come the fall.
